Fuel What Drives You!

Hello!

I’m Kurt—endurance junkie, serial tinkerer, and the guy who got tired of “almost” energy bars.

You know that feeling when you’re staring at yet another sports bar thinking, Do I really need one more of these in my life? I was right there with you. Most bars I tried were:

  • Almost filling
  • Almost tasty
  • Almost good for my stomach
  • Almost enough to get me through the workout

Almost isn’t good enough when you’re asking your body (and your mind) to go all in.

So I decided to build something better.

From “One-and-Done” Ironman… to “Hell Yeah, This Is Awesome!”

I’ve always tried to eat healthy and stay in shape—running, lifting, the usual. After a while, though, I needed a new challenge. That’s when I found triathlon.

  • 2012: My first triathlon—Olympic distance.
  • 2014: My second triathlon ever—Ironman New Zealand, a full Ironman.

I went into that race thinking it might be a one‑and‑done bucket list experience. Instead, it flipped a switch in me. It wasn’t “Glad that’s over.” It was:

“Hell yeah! This is awesome!”

But there was one big problem: my nutrition.

The Nutrition Struggle (a.k.a. Don’t Put Caesar Salad in Your Jersey)

During Ironman training, I tried to fuel any way I could:

  • Bars
  • Crackers
  • Sandwiches
  • Leftovers jammed in baggies

If you could stuff it in a jersey pocket, I probably tried it. (No, I didn’t actually race with a Caesar salad that had been baking in the sun for hours—but it honestly felt like I’d tried everything else.)

My stomach? Iron.
My energy? Not so much.

I could finish the training. I could finish the race. But I knew my fueling wasn’t dialed in. One of the first things I did after that Ironman was hire a coach to help me understand training and nutrition at a deeper level.

From Frustrated Snacker to Bar Maker

Here’s where my stubborn streak kicked in.

Every bar I tried was an “almost”:

  • Almost filling enough
  • Almost tasted good (without that vitamin/chalk/chemical aftertaste)
  • Almost sat well in my stomach
  • Almost delivered the steady energy I needed

I wanted:

  • Real, natural, mostly organic ingredients
  • Something my gut could handle at mile 80 or at my desk at 3 p.m.
  • A bar that actually tasted amazing
  • Fuel that gave me lasting, usable energy—not just a sugar spike

So I went into the kitchen and started experimenting.

Month after month.
Attempt after attempt.
Batch after batch.

Family and friends became very patient (and very honest) taste testers. Some recipes were promising. Others… let’s just say they didn’t make the cut. But slowly, the formula started to click.

What came out of that process is the bar I’m proud to put my name on: Kurt’s Bars—a smart endurance and long‑focus bar made from real food, that tastes great, sits well, and delivers energy in waves.

Who These Bars Are For

I designed Kurt’s Bars with endurance athletes in mind, but they’ve turned out to be perfect for so much more:

  • Runners, cyclists, triathletes, and gym‑goers
  • Office warriors and students grinding through long days
  • Busy parents, travelers, and anyone living life on the go
  • Anyone who wants a grab‑and‑go snack or quick meal replacement that actually feels good to eat

They’re for people who want their fuel to work—for your body, your gut, and your taste buds.

I truly believe these bars are awesome for everyone, not just athletes. We’re proud to offer them to you, and I’m confident you’ll not only feel the difference—they’ll be a bar you actually look forward to eating.

Thanks for being here.
Now go fuel what drives you.
